A Save The Date Story with Basic Invite

Right after getting engaged I guarantee these are the first two things that you’ll hear. “Congratulations! You’re engaged!”  “Did you pick a date yet?” ~ Wait, but I’ve been engaged for .5 seconds?

I always tell my couples that planning a wedding is as equally exciting as it can be stressful so when you find the most perfect venue and booked some amazing vendors take a deep breath and start thinking of save the dates. At this point you will feel like you need to send save the dates out as soon as possible because you might strangle the next person that asks “Did you set a date yet?”.

I know you want to quickly get those save the dates out, but nothing with planning a wedding should ever be rushed. When I was wedding planning I spent so much time researching fully customizable save the dates and wedding invitations. Customization was super important to me because being an aesthetic nerd on top of having basic knowledge of graphic design, umm yeah I wanted full control over what I was presenting to my friends and family. You also really want this to feel like a tangible item of your relationship together.

I remember vividly, researching companies for months because I couldn’t find anything that was within my budget, was high quality, and would print on the envelopes for no extra charge because God knows I do not have nice handwriting. Until one day, I was on Pinterest and the Pinterest gods blessed me with Basic Invite.

Basic Invite is a fully customizable, and when I say fully I mean FULLY, stationary website! It was really fun being able to alter every element of my save the date and wedding suite. From all the fonts they offer to the 180 colors to choose from, I was in a wonderland! I remember being so infatuated with the instant previews, I was harassing my sister texting her all the different options I was thinking of going with. Their color selection comes super handy, if you’re looking to create a modern look by color blocking your wedding invitations like what I did below!

They offer pretty much any save the date design you can think of. Magnets, Postcards, Acrylic, and you know regular paper! They have thought of everything to fit any wedding aesthetic perfectly! I personally was really leaning toward a save the date magnet because duh they are cute but also from the receiving end I get to easily show off all my gorgeous couples and friends! Postcard save the dates are great if you are planning a destination wedding! It’s a cute little add on for your guests to get excited about traveling and celebrating you two!

Okay but this is my favorite part, they have made designs that match save the date to wedding invitations so everything looks cohesive. You may be asking, “Maria, out of all of this THAT, this is your favorite part ?” Well it is very important to me that everything matches, ( remember when I said I was an aesthetic nerd?) and it’s super helpful on your wedding day when your wedding photographer is documenting everything! Wedding Photographer here, so yeah my favorite part!
